A Brief History of Kingmakers DFY

Kingmakers DFY was founded by Garrett Johns and Cabel McElderry, two operators shaped by real wins, real losses, and hard-earned lessons inside the Amazon ecosystem.

Garrett’s journey began not with a course or a guru — but with a single product idea, a long BBQ lunch, and hands-on mentorship that taught him how to think like a seller. That foundation became the blueprint for how Kingmakers now builds brands.

Cabel’s path came through burnout, failed coaching promises, and a $36,000 lesson when a program he joined was shut down by the FTC. Instead of quitting, he built anyway — mastering sourcing, wholesale, private labeling, and eventually exiting other businesses to focus fully on Amazon.

Together, they recognized a simple truth:
